Chapter 10: Alkenes and Alkynes

Alkenes are hydrocarbons that contain C=C double bonds. The alkene topics of naming, structure features and geometric isomers have been covered in Chapters 2 and 7. In this chapter, we will first discuss how to synthesize alkenes and then investigate the chemical reactivities of alkenes. Furthermore, the second part of this chapter will cover the synthesis and reactions of alkynes, the hydrocarbon that contains a C≡C triple bond.
