2.6 Course Glossary ~10 mins
Expand Online Teaching Terminology
PURPOSE OF THE TASK: This task allows you to contribute an items to our course glossary so as to support the mutual understanding of relevant terminology in our course.
TECHNOLOGY: For this task you will use a tool in Moodle called glossary, by the help of which students in a course can build a collection of definitions relating to the subject matter at hand.
INSTRUCTIONS: Based on the module readings, resources and your own research, add one new term to the course glossary with a definition, example and/or a personal question.
TEACHING INTENTIONS:
As a teaching tool, “Moodle Glossary can be used to facilitate active learning activities that enable students to collaboratively build knowledge by co-creating searchable collections that foster meaningful learning. Think of Glossary as a tool to build collections—using it to build a glossary is only one of its many uses” (Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies, Royal Roads University, 2018, n.p.).
In addition, FLOf participants get an opportunity to explore the Moodle Glossary function from a student’s perspective.
