10 7.3 FLOf Facilitation Strategies ~1 hr

PURPOSE OF THIS TASK: This activity is designed to help you recognize components of Gilly Salmon’s Five Stage Model while analyzing the purpose of each stage.

TECHNOLOGY:  You will use a Moodle wiki to collaborate with your peers and articulate your understanding of Salmon’s Five Stage Model.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Using this Moodle wiki link Key FLOf Facilitation Strategies, locate your assigned group for this activity. You will see that each group has been given a different stage of the Five Stage Model. As a group, reflect on the FLOf modules taken to-date. Identify one facilitation technique used by your FLOf facilitators according to the specific stage your group was given, and write a brief explanation of the technique identifying its purpose and effectiveness. ~30 mins

Step 2: Individually, read the other groups’ posts. Depending on where you are in your online teaching career, think about how you could modify the activity for your own context and/or apply these stages to your own course. ~30 mins. This process will help you prepare for activity 3.
