PURPOSE OF THIS TASK: The purpose of the following activities is to familiarize yourself with Gilly Salmon’s Five Stage Model. The model provides a framework for online design and facilitation.

TEACHING INTENTIONS:

Online facilitation models provide strategic guidelines for online teachers to scaffold learning activities, encourage active and collaborative learning, and interaction between learners and moderators. According to Salmon (n.d), “For online learning to be successful and happy, participants need to be supported through a structured developmental process.”
