4.5 Share Student-Centered Learning Resources ~1-2 hrs
Guiding Students in Learning Online
PURPOSE OF THE TASK: You will now find a learning resource of your choice to be used or adapted for future use in your own online module(s)/ course(s). The resource will guide your students in either getting orientated to learning online, doing a learning or assessment activity, or using a specific technological tool to complete a task you set for them.
TECHNOLOGY: For this task we will be using an online sticky note-board called PADLET, which allows for the sharing of multimedia-rich resources in one collaborative space. This tool is a proprietary software with a free account option for a limited number of boards.
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: Find a student resource that you think would be suitable for your own online course/ module. This could be anything from a student-centered syllabus, to a video tutorial, an activity description, a rubric, an infographic or anything else that you can use to guide your students in learning online with you.

STEP 2: Plan the modifications that are necessary to make the resource your own. This is optional!
STEP 3: If applicable, execute those modifications. This is optional!
STEP 4: Share your resource(s) (and maybe your modified version as well) with your peers and us the instructors in the medium and format that you like by accessing our Padlet Resource Board created for this purpose. You can leave notes by starting a post to which you can add links or upload multi-media-resources. If you need help in navigating the tool, watch this brief video tutorial (2 mins.) beforehand. DUE SUNDAY October 27 at midnight.
STEP 5: Comment on at least two of your peers’ resources by using the comment function on the Padlet board.
TEACHING INTENTIONS:
This activity allows for all participants in the course to share their individual research results and when applicable the modifications thereof with each other, which results in the building of a knowledge base relating to resources that help orientate learners to the online environment, specific technological tools or online learning activities. Thus, learners move from the stage of idea generating through the stage of idea organizing to the final stage when understanding of the matters at hand becomes more shared (Harasim, 2017, p. 122).
