The Power of “NO”
Brandon Justus; Jakeb McCue; Kristine Robles; and Chloe Lewis
One summer morning, the pig and the dog roll in the mud. The cow eats grass in the farmyard. When the pig sees the cow, he says:
Pig: –Cow, are you coming to the mud with us?
Cow: –No, no, no! I don’t like rolling in the mud.
Dog: –You are very boring!
Pig: –Yes, you are very boring.
Cow: –No, no, no! No means no!
Then the cow goes to the pen.
The next day, the pig and the dog are eating corn. When they see the cow, they say:
Dog: –Hey, cow!
Pig: –Are you eating with us? Corn is better than grass.
Cow: No, no, no! I don’t like to eat corn.
Pig: –But we eat corn every day!
Cow: –No, no, no! No means no!
Then the cow goes to the pen.
The next day, the pig and the dog are dancing in the mud. When they see the cow, they say:
Dog: –Hey, cow!
Pig: –Do you want to dance with us?
Cow: –No, I am very tired. I do not like dancing.
Then the cow goes to the pen.
The pig is furious because the cow always says No!
Then the pig says to the dog:
Pig: –The cow is not funny.
Dog: –Yes, she is different. The cow likes different activities.
Pig: –You are right. What do we do?
The pig and the dog walk to the corral where the cow is and they say:
Dog: –Cow, we are sorry. No means no!
Pig: –Yes, we are sorry.
Cow: Thank you for understanding. I like the corral.
And with an assembly of joy the cow asks them:
–Do you want to have a party tonight in the corral?
Dog: –Yesssss!
Pig: –We like parties!
The next day all the friends happily enjoy the party.
Moral: No means no. Forcing others to do something they don’t want to do can damage a friendship.
