An important factor of the employment contract is that it contains a time frame about an employee that how long the employee is contracted to work with the company. For ex- 1 year or 5 years. This also ensures the job security of employees (ELTON, 2019).

  • Understanding of duties-

The important thing of an employment contract is to make understanding of duties and responsibilities of an employee that what he/she has to do in a company. Employment contract also helps the employer to extract good performance from employee and if the employee fails to deliver good performance and not meeting the agreement set in the contract then the employer have the right to take certain action against him/her (ELTON, 2019).

  • Protects employee rights-

Employment contract determines that how the employee will be paid and it also covers about employee’s overtime and other factors. As a responsible employee, one should know about its rights and make sure that the contract covers them (ELTON, 2019).

  • Maintain trade secrets-

Sometimes an employer has to provide some confidential information about the company to employees like financial information or the trading formula of a company. So including some bounded laws in a contract can help the employer to secure its confidential information, and if an employee is caught doing such illegal activity then the employer has the right to take action against him (ELTON, 2019).

  • Employee leave-

Employee needs leave for certain thing like a holiday, sick leave, maternity leave so if an employee has a contract agreement he/she can make sure that procedure of taking leave is covered legally. Employers can also mention in the contract that employees can’t take continuous leave for a month in order to maintain a smooth flow of work in a company (ELTON, 2019).
