A Snapshot of Our Lives as Consumers in the Shadow of a Pandemic

We often call ourselves the “smartest species on earth.” Traditional attitudes state that we have mastered the world around us, and bent it to our will. And yet, all it took to send that house of cards crashing down was an organism too small for the eye to see.

Over the past year, we have seen political tensions rise to new heights, roused by demagoguery and bigotry. I came into this project expecting to pick up the pieces of the before and after. This is but a small snapshot of us fortunate ones, who live amongst each other in a city bustling with empathy and open minds. This is a snapshot of our friends, families, and colleagues, from the perspective of immigrants, making a life for themselves on foreign soil.
