Welcome!
Want to get more from your post-secondary group projects? Want to go from being a good team member to a GREAT one? This is the resource for you.
Welcome to our Entrepreneurial Action Spring 2022 Student Project: How to Create Effective Group Projects.
The Problem
This textbook was created by us (students) as part of our course project in ENTR4110 Entrepreneurial Action, in the Spring of 2022. Stemming from our own experiences (highlights & challenges) and those of our acquaintances around group projects at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, we reached the conclusion that there are some problems within the group project experience for many post-secondary students.
We endeavored to learned more about the source of inefficiencies often found in group projects, and attempt to help create a solution.
Background
Through an accumulation of own anecdotal evidence, and secondary research, we created a student survey and distributed it to a sample of KPU Business students, in an attempt to understand the core issues that arise in group projects at KPU, specifically. After analyzing our results, we chose to create this textbook as a learning resource to help readers understand some of the skills and concepts that drive group project success. This resulted in modules on Trust, Emotional Intelligence, Feedback and Leadership.
Intended Audience
The intended audience of this textbook is: KPU students (from any area of study), students from other postsecondary institutions, and any instructor, faculty member or other professional who may find value in it. The purpose of this textbook is to provide students at postsecondary institutions some preliminary information about common challenges in group projects, suggest skills or actions that can help overcome these challenges, and explain the importance of learning such skills. It serves only as an introduction to such techniques, and does not touch on each and every contributing factor to success of group projects.
We hope you find value in this resource, and wish you the best in your future group projects. Thank you!
