BUILDING EFFECTIVE STUDY HABITS

Ten Tips for Online Learning
This workshop will help you to choose strategies to understand your course requirements, manage your time, and effectively learn from your course materials.

Time Management For Online Learners

Online learning allows you a great deal of freedom to set your learning schedule.  In this workshop, you will discuss steps for creating semester, weekly, and daily schedules that incorporate principles for effective online learning and adapt to your unique situation.

Preparing for An Open Book Exam
This workshop will give you strategies to prepare for the Open Book Exam and writing well in the exams.

Master Your Memory
In this workshop, you will learn how memory works and ideal strategies for remembering more of what you learn. You will also be able to experiment with new techniques, like visualization, mnemonic devices, and smartphone apps to help you to learn.

Say No To Procrastination
Learn to identify the key factors that make you postpone. Evaluate if the Pomodoro technique may be a part of your solution. Develop an action plan for overcoming procrastination on a specific course-related task. You will also learn some motivational systems to support successful task completion.

This workshop will help you learning from your textbooks and university lectures by introducing a variety of effective pre-lecture reading strategies along with in-class note taking and post-class techniques.

Writing Mini Boot Camp: University Essays: First Steps
This workshop will introduce the requirements and expectations for university-level writing as well as effective strategies and resources to help the writing process. Learn how to craft a thesis statement, structure an argument, and begin to write clearly and concisely.

Do you need to use information from several sources in your paper? Confused about how to write an effective paraphrase? You will leave this workshop with practical strategies for reading sources, taking effective resource notes, and integrating paraphrased information into a strong academic paper.

Writing Right In Biology
In this workshop, you will learn to plan activities to increase your learning, discuss the structure and function of responses in Biology, compare and contrast using “how” and “why” statements, learn how to use “whereas” in paragraph format as well as analyze exam items carefully which will lead to better results.
