1. KPU100 Introduction to University

Get prepared with some highly effective learning and life strategies before you start the upcoming semester.

KPU 100 provides an interactive, supported learning experience for starting off your university career on the right track.  You will have the opportunity to engage with faculty and other students in real-time sessions, and will complete interactive learning activities at your own pace each day.  Along the way, you will receive supportive feedback and guidance as you work through short assignments that build up your knowledge, skills, and confidence as an online learner.  This non-credit program is offered completely free to KPU students.

How KPU 100 Works

There are two program options. Synchronous session will happen at the start and end of each program. One program starts at 8:00 am on Monday with a live session and again we see you on Friday at the same time (April 26 & 30, 8:00-9:00am). Another program starts at 7:00 pm on Monday and see you again on Thursday evening at 7:00pm (April 26 & 29, 7:00 – 8:00pm). The rest of the program is self-paced and you will get feedback from your program presenters as you complete your activities.

2. KPU101 Thriving In Action

Thriving in Action is a six-week program which explores the relationship between positive psychology and effective learning strategies. It has been demonstrated to enhance student well-being, confidence, and competence in managing university studies successfully. It also cultivates motivation, agency, and resilience to improve the lives of students.

Potential topics covered in the course include:

Awe Meaningfulness Character strengths Curiosity
Creativity Gratitude Grit (persistence) Growth mindset
intentionality resilience optimism self-compassion
Willpower Habits

This is a blended program and requires you to be present during the weekly online synchronous sessions. You will not benefit as much from this program if you are not present.

This is a six-week program consisting of:

  1. A two-hour live session online each week on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Link is provided in Moodle and is typically Big Blue Button or Zoom.
  2. Online resources and readings, including downloadable content from the KPU Moodle course site.
  3. A weekly exercise you complete in Pebble Pad ™ which is reviewed by a facilitator. This is expected to take about 30-60 minutes/week however some exercises are more involved and may take more time.

There are no grades or credits associated with this program. A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the program.

This is a limited space program and not all students maybe be accepted this semester. We will confirm your registration as soon as possible until all seats are filled.
