1. KPU100 Introduction to University

Excited about your studies? Get prepared with some highly effective learning and life strategies!  This 10 hour seminar series is for you!

Two offerings:

Monday, December 14 to Friday, December 18

This KPU 100 series will start with a live session to introduce you to your Learning Strategist instructors for the week.  You will then complete asynchronous (self-paced) modules which will be uploaded each day.  You will have an activity within each of the modules for which you will receive a response from your Learning Strategist.  We will end the week with another live session where you will be able to review the key tasks and ideas for the week with your Learning Strategist.  Choose a time you would like to join your live session(s).

Choose the session time you would like to join from the following options:

December 14: 7:30-8:30 AM and December 18: 7:30-8:30 AM (Pacific time)
December 14:  1:00 – 2:00 PM and December 18: 1:00 – 2:00 PM (Pacific time)
December 14: 6:30-7:30 PM and December 18: 6:30-7:30 PM (Pacific time)

Spring 2021

Tuesday, January 5 to Friday, January 8

2. KPU101 Thriving In Action

Thriving in Action is a course that has been proven to enhance student well-being, confidence and competence in managing university studies successfully

Dates:
Friday, Jan 8 to Friday, March 12
10:00 – 12:00 pm | 10 weeks x 2 hours per week

3. Academic Boost Camp

 

 

Expectations in university courses can be challenging, overwhelming, and often confusing and unclear! How do you make sense of what is being asked of you? What type of thinking do professors expect? What are some practical strategies to help you make the changes you may need to improve your learning and your grades? Register for this two ½-day program and put into practice strategies that will help you thrive at KPU.

In Academic Boost Camp, you will have the opportunity to assess your strengths, reflect on how you want to move into the future, and learn new strategies that will help you take practical action towards meeting your academic goals. You will learn in a supportive environment from experienced faculty and instructional staff.

Register for this two 1/2 day program designed to help you overcome setbacks, find your strengths and move on strategically and confidently with your program.

In addition to interactive plenary sessions, you will have the opportunity to select breakout sessions that connect with your needs and goals.

Topics include:

  1. Understanding the impact of mindsets and how to recover from setbacks
  2. Strategies for working and studying
  3. Reading and notetaking with confidence and purpose
  4. Deepening your thinking and metacognition
  5. Dealing with procrastination
  6. Exam preparation – moving beyond memorization
