Introduction
In this Pressbook, we will review the best practices in writing the Results and Discussion sections of a formal lab report based on APA Style Citations. This will build on your knowledge acquired in the Biology 1110 writing workshop called “Results and Discussion Writing Workshop Part 1”.
Learning Objectives
- Determine the content and organization of both the Results and Discussion sections of a lab report to clearly and logically communicate the information to the reader.
- Learn different types of data collection and ways to present the data via clear figure(s) and or tables
- Distinguish between raw data and summary data as well as ways to present both
- Learn to relate the data to the scientific question being addressed
- Understand the importance of peer reviewed literature in adding to the credibility of your work
- Learn the importance of editing your work and giving credit to others by providing correctly formatted references and in-text citations (APA Style Citations)
