How to work, live and Study during the Pandemic
We all know that this pandemic has changed the way we live, work, and study. Now, everything has been shifted to online mode in order to reduce the spread of COVID 19. In this course, our class has planned to create a guide on how to work, live and study during the pandemic. This topic has various areas and has different types of audiences. Therefore, I want to target international students. My instructions book will assist and guide them to have a good life and also prepare future students who are planning to study abroad.
How to work during the pandemic
Work from home is the most common thing which is seen during the pandemic. Most of the jobs have allowed their employees to work from home. This allows them to work while they are in their comfort zones. This keeps them safe from exposure to Covid19.
• Essential Workers This is the second category which includes frontline workers such as cashiers, doctors, health care assistants etc. Work from home is not possible in this case as the country needs their services. Therefore, if you fall under this category make sure to take all precautions. Always wear gloves and a face mask, use sanitizers frequently.
• Delivery drivers People in this category facilitate the exchange of goods and services. Delivery drivers have played a vital role during this pandemic. Uber eats, skip the dishes, Canada post, and Amazon, etc are some examples of this category. People in these businesses are at the highest risk. Their major role is to deliver goods door to door; hence, they are most exposed to Covid19. The best advice to delivery drivers is that they should use proper PPE(personal protective equipment) at all times.
How to study during the pandemic
• Attentiveness Due to this pandemic, education has been shifted to a virtual mode. In-person classes are temporarily suspended. All the study material is provided online to students. Some students are finding it hard to study online at their homes. For them, the best piece of instructions is that they should sit on a study table in a separate room which is quiet and relaxing. It should be free from any kind of disturbance and distractions. This will enable them to study with full concentration and focus.
• Proper Behaviour Everyone should respect others’ opinions in an online meeting by responding to them in a proper way rather than debating on the topic. Moreover, students should be mindful of their mikes. It should be turned off when the professor or any classmate is speaking as the outside noise can create disturbance in the whole class.
• Be Prepared Students should always make a schedule and plan their week and semester accordingly. They should not leave the assignments and quizzes for the last minute. As everything has been shifted to online mode and we are now more dependent on technology, any interruptions or problems in technology can cause delays in the work. How to live during the pandemic
• Meditation Taking care of mental health has become very important these days. As we are avoiding social gatherings like birthday parties or weddings due to covid, we have become less socially active which makes us feel lonely and depressed. But this is all for our good. By remaining in our homes with our direct family members, we are saving ourselves and our loved ones. Meditating and doing yoga is a means to freshen our minds and body.
• Home cooked fresh food Students should take care of their health and prefer home-cooked fresh food instead of ordering from restaurants. There are so many healthy options available at our homes that can be prepared with minimal effort. Infections can spread easily through food. So, everyone should avoid visiting restaurants.
• Staying home is the best way to protect yourself from covid19. Students should avoid hanging out with their friends and colleagues. It is better to avoid going to hotspots or public places like malls, clubs etc for a healthy and long life.
Conclusion
Overall, as a piece of advice for all the international students who are studying and working overseas, the best thing to practice is to make schedules and do meditation. These two things personally helped me. This is the solution to everything. Making schedules allows you to do work before time and eliminating stress. Meditation will provide you with overall well-being. Therefore, it is very well said “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body”.
