Ingredients
●1 ½ cups warm water (110-115 degreesF)
●1 tbsp sugar
●2 tsp salt
●2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
●4 ½ cups all purpose flour
●2 oz unsalted butter, melted
●10 cups water
●⅔ cups baking soda
●2 tbsp butter, melted
●Sea Salt for sprinkling
Instructions
1.The dough: In the bowl of your stand mixer (with the paddle attachment) mix the water, sugar, yeast, and salt on low until combined.
2.After combining, switch out the paddle attachment for the dough hook. Add in the flour and butter and mix on low until combined.
3.Increase to medium speed. Knead the dough until it is a smooth consistency and pulls away from the bowl (approx. 4-5minutes)
4.Remove dough from the bowl and transfer to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for 50-55minutes.
5.Transfer the dough onto an oiled surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
6.Roll out each piece into a 24-inch rope. Cover the dough you are not using with a damp towel to prevent the dough from drying out.
7.Shape each piece of dough into a “U” shape.
8.Pull the ends towards you crossing them over each other.
9.Twist the ends around each other once to form the pretzel shape.
10.Baking:Preheat the oven to 425F and line the baking sheets with parchment paper.
11.In a large pot bring 10 cups of water with the baking soda to a boil.
12.Using a spatula, lower the pretzel into the water for 30 seconds
13.Remove the pretzel from the water with the spatula(letting as much water as possible drain off)and place on the baking sheet.
14.Brush the pretzel with the melted butter and salt.
15.Bake until golden brown approx. 12-14minutes.
