5 How To Make Ramen A Little Healthier – Matt Dieno
Looking for a little more nutrition and flavor with your quick meals? Here is a cheap and easy way to make instant ramen more flavorful and nutritious.
First, we are going to need some instant ramen, any brand really, then we’re going to need some ingredients/supplies. All ingredients are easily purchased from any grocery store for cheap.
Ingredients:
1. Any instant ramen, I am using Sapporo ichiban but you can use whatever you have
2. Any protein, lunchmeat, and pre-cooked diced chicken are two good options.
3. Eggs, this is also a protein, but it works well with the first ingredients.
4. Green onions make for an easy-to-prepare veggie that is also cheap. (optional)
5. Sriracha makes any mediocre instant ramen taste way better.
Supplies:
1. One small-medium pot to cook the ramen in
2. One cutting board (optional)
Instructions
First, we are going to boil some water in preparation for our ramen.
While the water is boiling, we can get our extra ingredients ready:
Break whatever protein you choose into more bite size pieces, either with a knife or with your hands.
After the water comes to a boil, we are going to drop our ramen in and let it cook.
Ramen cooks very quickly, so keep an eye on it!
After the ramen is no longer hard, we can drop our ingredients in, along with the flavor packet.
Crack the egg and drop it in to the boiling water directly; it will cook within 2-3 minutes. Set a timer if you need it.
After 3 minutes, take your ramen off the heat and transfer it to a bowl for eating!
After the ramen is in the bowl, you can add as much sriracha as you would like. You can also add the diced green onions on top after everything is done (My grocery store was out of green onions)
Here is your more flavorful/nutritious meal!
