Situating the Author: Kaia MacLeod

My name is Kaia MacLeod, and I’m a person of dual heritage. I am a member of the James Smith Cree Nation on my father’s side, and a mixture of Scottish, Irish and British on my mother’s side. I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta (Treaty 6) and currently reside in Calgary, Alberta (Treaty 7). At the time of writing this, I’m the Indigenous Cataloguing Librarian for the University of Calgary.

My perspectives are informed by my BA in film studies and my Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta, as well as my many mentors and family members who have guided me in this career.
