Situating the Author: Christian Isbister

tanisi, hello! My name is Christian Isbister, I’m a librarian and a member of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. My father’s family is Métis and Ukranian with roots in Northern Saskatchewan and family connections through Prince Albert and Saskatoon, while my mother’s family is Dutch and Irish. I was born in Red Deer, which is situated right on the border of Treaty 6 and 7, and over my career I’ve lived in Edmonton (Treaty 6) and Kelowna (unceded Syilx Territory).

I remain so grateful to librarians and teachers who have mentored, and worked alongside me — some of whom I’m thrilled to be working with for this 2nd Edition! I strive to engage an Indigenous information literacy approach to my work, grounded in reciprocity and an ethic of care.
