This textbook was developed as part of the Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) with support from the ZTC Advancement Grant program. I gratefully acknowledge The Centre for Educational Transformation and OPUS (Open Publishing Suite) for their support of this project and their commitment to reducing educational costs for students while promoting accessible, high-quality learning resources. Special thanks are extended to Amanda Grey, Karen Meijer, and Maria Vandenberg for their guidance and support throughout the development and publication process.

I would also like to thank the Melville School of Business for supporting this work. In particular, I appreciate the encouragement and support of Dean Alia Somji, whose commitment to student success and open education helped make this project possible.

This textbook was created to provide students in Information Technology, Computing Science, and related disciplines with a practical and accessible introduction to discrete mathematics. The many examples, exercises, and case studies were developed to connect mathematical concepts to real-world business and technology applications. I hope this resource helps students build both confidence and competence in the mathematical foundations that support modern information systems. This book is dedicated to supporting their learning and future success.
